COVID-19 Daily Email Update 5/21/2020

Its Thankful Thursday and ….

What’s the ONE THING you can do today to help MORA, our staff and the people we support? Tell Congress to demand that federal relief dollars reach Medicaid-funded providers of long-term supports and services to constituents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). More than 70 days into the pandemic, the federal government has not designated a single dollar of emergency relief specifically for Medicaid-funded disability providers.

3rd confirmed case of COVID-19

Yesterday, all employees received a very detailed email and a printable PDF about a new case of COVID-19 among a staff member. Please read carefully – print and share with staff and teams — and make sure to reach out to your director with any questions. If you were not contacted directly by phone, you have not been directly exposed.

People are the best medicine.
And one we’ve missed in different ways through this crisis. MORA staff connections continue, 15-30 minutes together can go a long way.

Summer unofficially begins…

It’s Memorial Day weekend. Honoring a national holiday to remember military veterans, in Minnesota the weekend also marks the unofficial beginning of summer. And it will still become summer. It will feel different. We are uncertain what usual activities of summer we may or may not enjoy this year. But summer still begins. Lakes, sunshine, breezes. Lawn chairs, bare feet, bike riding and tomatoes. Let’s still enjoy it. Even if it means setting up a tent in your own backyard.

Cancelling the 10am Zoom Check-in on Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day)  We’ll catch up again on Wednesday, May 27.

Today I am grateful for all our veterans and employees who served/serve veterans as well as their families. A big shout out to Kevin McLaughlin (Residential Supervisor) for all the work HE does to honor veterans through our McGregor Veterans Weekends.

Thank you!
