Celebrating MORA Case Management Services

Case Management when they hit their 100th referral

Our Case Management department has a big week ahead of them. They are celebrating 3 years of Case Management services as well as reaching their 1,000th referral.
History of MORA’s Case Management Department
In 2016, MORA added a Case Management team in response to the state and federal government urging options for consumer choice, as well as counties seeking viable and efficient approaches for large caseloads. I was lucky enough to be the first Case Manager hired onto MORA’s new Case Management Department, under our fearless leader Julie. The last three years have gone by much quicker than the first three months did, I will say that. I remember the excitement and anticipation as we waited, not so patiently, for our first Hennepin County transfer to come though. On July 5th, 2016 we finally received our first DD waiver client, and we’ve been growing steadily ever since!
Within our first year we grew to 12 Case Managers, were serving 215 clients and had opened to four different waiver programs statewide. Within a year and a half, our department had grown so quickly, we were able to begin offering Supervisor positions, and now currently have 6 Supervisors on staff.
Within two years of opening to Case Management we were already on boarding with another county. On April 1st, 2018 MORA’s Case Management Department began working with Dakota County. Within our first year with Dakota we’ve already grown to 6 Case Managers and 2 Supervisors, serving 200+ clients on five different waiver programs.
It’s an honor to be a part of this team, and to reach such a large milestone together. We each have our own individual stories of struggles, and triumphs while working to support our clients in a challenging time. No two days are the same, and in any human service career, it can come with physical, mental and emotional demands. But, the privilege to be able to step in and work with individuals and their families in their time of need is priceless and rewarding beyond compare.
Thank you to everyone at MORA for supporting us these last 3 years, as we work together to continue to strive to provide personal growth opportunities for people with disabilities by offering unique services supported by a caring, dedicated and knowledgeable team.
