COVID-19 Daily Email Update 3/24/2020

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

Hello Team!

It’s time for us, the caregivers, to ask for help. This email is devoted to helping all of us do that in two different ways. Please use these resources if/when you need them.  Remember, we need to share concerns before they become panic, share a need before it becomes desperation and share an idea so it can grow into something bigger and stronger.  Thanks to the anonymous person who suggested we share this today. You rock!!

Mental & Emotional Health resources,:

  • NAMI Minnesota, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is offering free virtual classes on self-care, positivity and managing trauma:
  •  Generous therapists are donating online therapy sessions for essential healthcare workers:
  • MORA healthcare benefits includes a program called “Ability Assist Counseling Services” which connects insured employees to three free counseling sessions. After a short intake, you will be referred to a counselor to schedule a first telehealth appointment. 1-800-96-HELPS (1-800-964-3577)  More questions:

How your friends and family can support us:

Post to your social networks how to reach out to Minnesota legislators through ARRM and Federal legislators through ANCHOR. Quick and easy clicks, advocating for Emergency and Stimulus financial support. Recovery will be ongoing. The people we support are often overlooked and I know you can feel invisible in your roles. We need to speak up for the people we support, our DSPs and our communities! Now is the time to make ourselves heard!

Like so many healthcare workers, we are capable and strong and resourceful but we cannot do it all – each of us alone or even just one organization!!! This is our chance to show more strength and wisdom and ask for help. Let others who are home from work and home from school ACHING for a way to help jump in!
