#FacesOfAbilityFriday – Tracy B.
This week on #FacesOfAbilityFriday we’re showcasing Tracy B. Tracy lives in one of MORA’s residential homes. We talked to Tracy and her staff to find out what it is that makes Tracy so awesome!
Tracy attends MORA’s Adult Day Services program. There, she spends her days engaging in activities like arts and crafts and spending time with staff and friends that she has grown to know well since she started in the program. Tracy loves to spend time at work sitting on the floor in her
special area of the room, where she can look at herself in the large stand-up mirror and use her collection of sensory items.
Tracy grew up in Wayzata. According to Tracy’s staff, she has “wonderful parents” who are involved in her life. Her staff say that Tracy’s favorite time of the day is when she gets home from ADS. According to staff, Tracy likes to help bring the mail in, and then usually asks to be transferred to her floor mat, so she can watch Full House or Austin & Ally videos.
Tracy’s staff describe her as a “loving lady” who “loves everyone around her.” Her staff went on to tell us more about her. Tracy is good at sensing other peoples’ emotions and being empathetic. She “likes to express her love for others by giving hugs and kisses.” She “loves” when her parents visit her, and they often bring her gifts, like magazines and clothing. She loves to be around her housem-
ates and her staff. When she’s watching TV, she likes staff to sit down and watch with her, and to have conversations with her. Tracy also loves when her housemates join her in her room to watch her favorite programs. If staff could tell the community anything about Tracy, it’s that she “likes to socialize and say ‘hi’ to everyone that she meets,” and sometimes she “enjoys having a chit-chat with people.” Anyone who has met Tracy can tell you, she truly leaves a little sparkle wherever she goes, and often a lasting impression on those she encounters. When it comes to hopes and dreams, Tracy’s staff think that she would like to meet John Stamos, who plays Uncle Jesse on her favorite show, Full House!
